Kathmandu; In the context of global discussions on renewable and clean energy development, along with the topic of green hydrogen being brought into focus, a 3-day 'World Hydrogen Summit' is set to begin in the Netherlands.

Today marks the beginning of what is likely the most prestigious hydrogen summit to date, taking place in Rotterdam, Netherlands from Monday to Wednesday (May 13-15). According to organizer the landmark event in the industry’s calendar, this summit is the largest and most senior global hydrogen event. Experts consider this conference highly significant for the hydrogen industry. Expectations are that in-depth discussions will take place among various world leaders and government officials regarding hydrogen development, knowledge sharing, and future strategic planning.

Alongside the summit, there will also be a grand global hydrogen exhibition taking place. According to the organizers, the summit will feature discussions on achievements made in the hydrogen sector throughout the year, presentations of projects, and incredible site visits like the Port of Rotterdam Hydrogen Project. This inclusive approach aims to enrich the discourse on hydrogen development, exchanging experiences, project implementation plans, collaborative financing, and playing a pivotal role in in global debates, subsidy schemes and energy transition plans.

Netra Karki, a development activist in the green hydrogen field who has been actively involved in this sector and its imperatives in Nepal, is set to participate in the aforementioned summit and will depart for it on Sunday. He aims to share insights at the summit regarding the progress, achievements, and plans that Nepal has made in the field of hydrogen development.

"In the current global energy development landscape, changes are occurring, and we should not lag behind in adopting that path," he said with Urja Khabar, "I will utilize my expertise to inform stakeholders about the progress, achievements, and policy-level improvements in Nepal."

He emphasized the necessity for Kathmandu University's active role in fully realizing progress in this field and its relevance on the global stage. The Netherlands summit is expected to attract over 15,000 industrial sector representatives from Europe, Asia, America, Africa, and other major regions, more than 2,000 distinguished participants, around 500 exhibitions, and 350 speakers.
