Sanjen's construction is almost over, testing would start in March 

Kathmandu: The construction of Sanjen Hydropower Project 42.5 MW located in Rasuwa district is almost over, build by Sanjen Jalavidhyut Company Limited (SJCL). The company has started this project from 2014  but they have completed only 95% of the construction work till the date. 

The project manager Arpan Bahadur Singh told that they are working the remaining work of last stage. He also informed that they are preparing for the testing March first week after completing the all remaining work related to the project. They are going to start the testing of headrace and penstock pipe soon. He also adds that they will start water filling in tunnel by the end of December. 

'We have completed 100% work of civil structure he said to Urja khabar, in this way, 85.44% of Electro-mechanical equipment install, 96.67% of civil and Hydro- mechanical construction have been finished.' 

Singh informed that, 'we are going to finish the due work within 3 month to complete the testing of other structure in accordance with the plan'.  After finishing the construction, the generated electricity will connect Chilime Hub sub-station which is distanced 2 km from the project. The construction of the transmission line has already been completed. 

According to the company, the estimated cost of the project was around 5.2 billion but it has been increasing due to the delay construction work, price escalation of US dollar and other reasons.

 The company had aimed that the construction already been finished. But the company acknowledged that, date for the construction has been delaying due to the earthquake, landslides, Covid -19 and other reasons related to government and other non-governmental agencies.  

This company has already completed the Upper Sanjen Hydroelectric project 14.8 MW which has been generating electricity from August 2023.
