Kathmandu: The Nepali Army has informed that a total of 121 people were trapped inside tunnels of hydropower projects devastated by Bhotekoshi floods of August 26.

Presenting a working paper in a program organized by National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority on Monday, Nepali Army Brigadier General Subash Jung Thapa, said out of a total of 919 people reported missing from 12 different projects, including hydropower and solar energy, 121 were trapped inside the tunnel.

Among those trapped individuals, only three have been safely rescued from the tunnel, while the bodies of four have been recovered.

Project-wise, 50 were trapped in Upper Trishuli-1, 40 in Upper Trishuli 3A, seven each in Langtang Khola Hydropower Project and Chilime Hydropower Project, five in Rasuwagadhi Project and remaining were inside the tunnel of Trishuli 3B.
