Kathmandu: Avasar Equity Diversified Fund (AEDF), one of Nepal’s first domestic private equity funds, has entered into an investment agreement with Him Parbat Hydropower Limited to invest Rs 390.6 million in hydropower projects.
The Fund will be injecting its capital into two run-of-river hydropower projects, namely Sagu Khola – 1 Hydropower Project (5.5 MW) and Sagu Khola Hydropower Project (20 MW) to be constructed in Dolakha District of Bagmati Province, Nepal.
The total energy generated by both projects is expected to be approximately 149 GWh per year. The power generated from both projects shall be connected to the national grid through the Singati Substation.
The Power Purchase Agreement for both projects has been concluded on a take-or-pay basis. These two hydropower projects are set to start commercial production on April 12, 2025.
The AEDF is registered with the Securities Exchange Board of Nepal under the Specialized Investment Fund Regulation, 2019. The investment by the Fund shall facilitate the timely completion of the projects and contribute to fulfilling Nepal’s commitment to clean energy.
