Kathmandu: A contract has been signed for the supply and installation of electromechanical equipment for the 43 MW Upper Madi-0 Hydropower Project, promoted by Annapurna Power Company Pvt. Ltd. The contract has been awarded to Troyer AG, Italy.
The agreement was signed by Stephen Troyer, Chairman of Troyer AG Italy, Pawan Dhakal, Chairman of Troyer Hydro Pvt. Ltd. India, and on behalf of the promoter company, Chairman Shila Koirala Neupane.
According to the agreement, Troyer is required to complete the supply and installation of the electromechanical equipment within the next two years and bring the project to a stage where it is capable of generating electricity.
The project, located in Madi Rural Municipality of Kaski, is estimated to cost approximately NPR 8.12 billion. Among the total cost, 30% will be equity from the promoters and 70% will be financed through banks, with financial arrangements already completed. The project aims to begin commercial operation within the next two and a half years.
The project is expected to generate 95.872 GWh of electricity in the dry season and 175.099 GWh in the wet season, amounting to an annual production of 270.971 GWh. The electricity generated by the project will be connected to the Nepal Electricity Authority's 132 kV Lekhnath substation.
