Kathmandu:  The "Eighth Russian Energy Week International Forum", one of the major global events in the energy sphere, will be held from October 15–17 in Moscow. The large-scale program with high level participation is aimed at enabling the delegates to discuss the matters relevant for the sector and establish beneficial contacts.

The Forum will feature among others sessions on the efficient use of natural energy resources and the development of the energy sector’s potential for sustainable economic growth, improving the quality of life for the country’s population, and helping to strengthen its international economic position.

"I am confident that Russia’s partners, including its new ones in the BRICS alliance, as well as the African countries that confirmed their interest in working with Russia at the recently concluded First Ministerial Conference of the Russia–Africa Partnership Forum, will play an active part in organizing and holding the Forum,” said Anton Kobyakov, Adviser to the President of the Russian Federation and Executive Secretary of the REW Organizing Committee.

REW is a major international platform where discussions focus on the fuel and energy complex, energy efficiency, and international cooperation in the energy sector, including in the field of hydropower, which is critical for the long-term development of Nepal.

Last year, the program featured a keynote speech from the President of the Russian Federation, Vladimir Putin, and participation from Russian and foreign governmental officials, the CEOs of major domestic and international energy companies and organizations, scientists, and experts—totaling more than 5,300 participants from 81 countries—mostly global major stakeholders in the industry, including in renewable energy.

According to the organizer, the Russian Energy Week is not just a platform for discussing current problems and achievements in the energy sector but also an important stage in the construction of a new global energy landscape. The world changing, and this process requires not only adaptation but also a proactive approach. In this context, Russia, with its considerable resources and experience, seeks to contribute to international cooperation.

"This important event attracts the attention of investors, experts, and academics, and serves as a platform for dialogue on energy security and innovation. I am confident that joint efforts will enable us to meet the challenges facing the energy sector and contribute to its sustainable development,” said Alexander Novak, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation and Chairman of the REW 2025 Organizing Committee.

In addition to the business program, an exhibition of major energy companies, individual projects, and equipment and technologies for the fuel and energy complex will be held.

Youth Day events will also be held as part of REW. These will bring together young specialists, students, and school pupils. As tradition has it, they will exchange experiences and ideas, as well as summarize the results of their project work in 2025 and devise a youth agenda for the fuel and energy complex in 2026.

REW is supported by the Government of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Energy of Russia, and the Moscow City Government. The Forum is being organized by the Roscongress Foundation.
