Kathmandu: The government has intensified efforts to rescue workers trapped inside a tunnel of the Upper Trishuli 3B Hydropower Project in Rasuwa, with technical support from a six-member Chinese expert team.

The Chinese team, mobilized with the permission of the Government of Nepal, reached the flood-hit site by helicopter. It will work alongside Nepali Army experts to assess conditions inside the tunnel and determine the safest and most feasible rescue approach.

The joint team will conduct an initial assessment of the situation and evaluate the possibility of entering the tunnel to evacuate the trapped workers.

If the assessment confirms that rescue operations can be carried out, additional Chinese experts will be deployed to support the operation. More experts have been kept on standby in the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border area for immediate mobilization if required.

The rescue operation remains highly challenging due to the risks inside the flooded tunnel. The government authorities say all possible measures are being taken to safely evacuate the workers.
