Kathmandu: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Biraj Bhakta Shrestha, has announced that the government is considering providing a two percent allotment of Initial Public Offerings (IPOs) from hydropower project developer companies for serving security personnel.
Speaking at a session of lower house, Minister Shrestha said process is underway to establish a legal provision in this regard to allocate certain portion of the issued primary shares for the security personnel. He added that this measure is being introduced to encourage security personnel by highly valuing the role and contributions they demonstrated during rescue operation and relief distribution after the devastating floods struck the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli rivers on August 26.
Noting the commendable dedication shown by security personnel in search, rescue, and rehabilitation operations—despite challenging terrain, adverse weather, and limited resources—Minister Shrestha informed that the government in honor of the those security officials is launching the provision.
