Kathmandu : The government has targeted to add 900 MW of electricity in the national grid in the next fiscal year.

Announcing the budget for the fiscal year 2023/24, Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat said the government has aimed to take the production capacity of electricity to a total of 3,600 MW by the next fiscal year end.   

Likewise, the government has announced to prepare a modality to construct 1,200 MW Budhi Gandaki Hydropower Project.

Mahat said the government will give priority to promote green energy and clean energy generating projects. For this purpose, a total budget of Rs 1.74 billion has been allocated for promotion of alternative energy.
