Kathmandu : Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has said it will take action against the cooking gas producers who are found to be involved in malpractice of refilling the fuel in a cylinder more than the prescribed standard.
Issuing a circular to the sellers of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), the sector’s regulator has asked the concerned dealers to immediately stop the misconduct or prepare to face action. According to the bylaws related to LPG trading, wrongdoers in the LPG business might face suspension of their transaction license for three months.
The rule enforced by the NOC permits the LPG traders to refill gas in a way that the weight of the loaded cylinder does not exceed 14.2 kg. However, in a number of cases, the traders are found to be selling a cylinder that flouts the prescribed standard.
The state-owned oil monopoly has also urged consumers not to purchase the gas cylinders that weigh more than the set standard.
