Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal has said that the government was formed by forming a five-party alliance to safeguard the constitution, nationality and the federal republic.
Speaking at an ideological and political training programme organised in Banepa, Kavre on Wednesday, Minister Bhusal said that the coalition government was formed to prevent the country from moving towards regression through the dissolution of the House of Representatives and the constitution.
She said that the present five-party alliance should be continued in the coming days as well. Stating that the 10-year people’s revolution was launched as a people’s movement by advancing Mao’s ideology in the Nepali environment under the leadership of party chairman Prachanda, she claimed that such an armed movement could not be conducted now.
“As long as there is class, there will be class struggle, rebellion, revolution, but there will be no people’s war like yesterday,” she added.
On the occasion, Minister Bhusal said that the government has set a target of supplying electricity to the homes of all citizens.
She said that after assuming the post of minister, she took a decision to reduce electricity tariff and provide at least 20 units of electricity for poor households free of cost.
Minister Bhusal said that about 2.65 million households have used the free electricity provided by the government.
She said that a 50 per cent discount has been provided on electricity used for irrigation purposes to reduce the country’s unbalanced trade deficit and make Nepal self-reliant in agriculture.
She said that arrangements would be made to give shares to the people of Kavre and the surrounding areas of the power projects as the work of 700 MW Sunkoshi III Reservoir hydropower project and 110 MW Kokhajor hydro project is being studied through the Electricity Development Committee.
She said that the people of the surrounding areas and districts would also get employment during the construction of power projects.
