Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Pampha Bhusal said that priority will be given to the policy of reducing the use of vehicles, factories and materials that use petroleum products.

Speaking at an interaction program on 'Disaster and Community Radio' organized by the Association of Community Radio Broadcasters Nepal (ACORAB) on Sunday, Minister Bhusal said that plans would be made to substitute the use of petroleum products from Nepal ahead of time it has committed in the international arena. She said, “I will make an action plan by making experts and stakeholders study the matter. So let's all buy electric vehicles now.”

Expressing confidence that the trade deficit can be reduced by consuming domestically generated electricity, she said, “Using indigenous products will also help in building a self-reliant economy and mitigating the effects of climate change.”

Stressing on the need to make a habit of using electronic materials to reduce the impact of climate change, Minister Bhusal said, “Snow is melting and the risk of avalanches is increasing. Let's do our part to reduce such risks.”
