Cosmic Electrical Becomes Nepal’s First Contractor to Complete a 220 kV Transmission Line

Kathmandu: Cosmic Electrical Limited (CEL), a renowned company in Nepal’s transmission construction sector, has successfully completed the 220 kV Middle Tamor double circuit transmission line. This marks a historic milestone, making CEL Nepal’s first EPC contractor to achieve this feat.

The transmission line was constructed for the 73 MW Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Project, promoted by Sanima Middle Tamor Hydropower Limited (SMTHL). According to CEL, it has been operational for the past 11 months, seamlessly transmitting clean hydropower into the national grid.

“The successful completion of this high-voltage transmission line marks a significant breakthrough in Nepal’s power sector, enabling efficient power evacuation, strengthening grid stability, and contributing to Nepal’s vision of energy self-sufficiency and export potential,” said Mahesh Mahato, Managing Director of CEL. “It is a game-changer project for Nepal’s energy sector and communities.”

He further elaborated that commissioning this transmission line is not just an engineering achievement but a catalyst for economic transformation. By integrating clean energy into the national grid, this project enhances Nepal’s energy security and grid reliability, accelerates economic growth by providing stable power to industries and communities, facilitates future hydropower investments through efficient power evacuation, and contributes to employment and infrastructure development in the project area.

Mahato also stated that SMTHL's vision for sustainable energy aligns with CEL’s mission of delivering innovative, efficient, and high-impact EPC solutions. With this achievement, CEL reaffirms its leadership in Nepal’s EPC sector, setting new benchmarks in technical excellence, project execution, and clean energy solutions.
