KATHMANDU; The hydropower group led gains in the secondary market on Monday, surging 103.28 points as the benchmark Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index climbed 41.70 points, or 1.55 percent.

The market continued its rebound after a prolonged slump, extending the momentum that began on Friday when the NEPSE had gained 76 points. Despite the recent recovery, the hydropower group had lost around three percent of its market value in the previous fiscal year.

Energy-related stocks dominated the list of top gainers, accounting for six of the 10 highest-performing companies of the day. The leading gainers included Ridge Line Energy Limited, Solu Hydropower Limited, Dibyashwori Hydropower Ltd, Shikhar Power Development Limited, Bhujung Hydropower Limited and Him Star Urja Company Limited.

Ankhu Khola Jalvidhyut Company emerged as the top turnover company, with shares worth Rs 291.55 million traded during the session. Ridi Power Company Limited and National Hydro Power Company Limited were also among the top five companies recording the highest daily turnover.
