Kathmandu: Electric vehicles worth 7 billion and 58 million has been imported in first four months of this fiscal year 2022/23. According to the custom department electric vehicles such as jeep, van electric motorcycle and scooter worth than 7 billion 58 million and 75 lakh has been imported.
During this period, electric vehicles been imported from India, china and other countries. In this period, 1 thousand 861 electric vehicles such as 3 wheelers jeep and van which is above 50 kw were imported from India.
Likewise, 3 thousand 62 three wheeler and 1 thousand 554 jeep and van which is above 50 kw to 100 kw have been imported according to the statistics of custom department. In this period, 13 electric jeep and van which is above 50 to 100 kw been imported from Indonesia and two jeep from Korea and Germany that is above 100kw to 200 kw have been imported.
During this period, 2 thousand 760 jeep and vans have been imported which is below the capacity of 100kw and 28 vehicles above 100kw been brought from different countries the statistics of custom department shows. According to the department of custom, electric scooter and motorcycle which worth than 29 million and 47 lakh have been imported from China, UAE and India during the first four months.
During kartik last, 1 thousand 281 electric scooter and motorcycle have been imported from China which costs 13 million 52 lakh and 88 thousand. Nowadays, consumers have been attracted towards the small vehicles. Likewise, electric motorcycle and scooter have been imported from different countries such as 745 from India, 72 from Indonesia and 2 motorcycle and scooter from UAE in this period.
Additionally, being environment friendly, price escalation of petroleum products and easy policy of the government have attracted people for the use of electric vehicles. Government have set target in climate change mitigation and adaptation national implementation plan to increase the use and sale of electric vehicles 90% private sector and 60% in public sector by 2030. Similarly, this plan have aimed that the electric vehicle will cover 25% share of total sale of two wheeler and four wheeler by 2025.
