Support for Dry Season: 11 MW of Electricity to be Added from Super Hewa and Piluwa Khola

Kathmandu: To ease the electricity demand and supply situation during this dry season, approximately 11 MW of electricity generated from two hydropower projects is set to be integrated into the national grid. These projects include the 6 MW Super Hewa Khola promoted by Super Hewa Power Company Pvt. Ltd. and the 4.72 MW Piluwa Khola-2 developed by Menchhiyam Hydro Power Pvt. Ltd.

Super Hewa, equipped with electro-mechanical equipment from GEPPERT Hydro, commenced electricity generation from March, 25 (Chaitra 12). As per the provisions of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the project will supply free power to the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) for the next 15 days, after that commercial production will be counted.

Constructed in Sankhuwasabha, the Super Hewa is expected to generate 6.172 GWh of electricity annually. The generated power will be transmitted to the national grid via the 33/220 kV Baneshwar substation, located 1.35 kilometers from the powerhouse switchyard.

Similarly, the reconstruction of Piluwa Khola-2, which was damaged by floods and landslides in Asar 2080 (June-July 2023), has been completed. The project is expected to begin electricity generation next week. This project is also located in Chainpur Municipality, Sankhuwasabha.
